Our friend, Derek, from Mrs. Williamson's ASD room and Mrs. Reid's kindergarten room helped us with the pledge yesterday! He used his communication device to help communicate the words! We are so proud of you, Derek!! You did an amazing job!!

Mrs. Hedlund's Kindergarteners, at BCEL, came across a visitor out in our track this afternoon! They were able to observe this amazing creature, talk about him, and ask questions. What a great experience!!!

So great to see all of our new 2023 National Honor Society inductees, congratulations! Mrs Hahn also provided a wonderful presentation as tonight's guest speaker.

For Autism Acceptance month BCEL has been using the morning announcements to bring all the things we all have in common to the forefront. Whether you have Autism or not we all want to play, be accepted, be included, make friends, and be able to communicate! We want our Little Lancers to hear the different ways communication can occur. Last week our friend, Jonathon, used his communication device to help us with the pledge. This morning Ben used words with pictures to read the pledge to get our day started! Both helpers did an amazing job!!!

An amazing group of teacher leaders joined Steve and Michelle Venture for an active 3-day training on Achievement Teams. Teachers worked on how to gather data using short cycle assessments and then how to take that data to have valuable conversations around that data to help drive instruction and increase teacher clarity and efficacy. Our teacher leaders worked hard all 3 days really focusing on how to grow as professionals and how to better deliver instruction and collaborate as a high-functioning achievement team! Our deepest thanks go out to Steve and Michelle to their continued commitment to growing our professionals!

Mrs. Lombard's 1st graders at BCEL engaged in a fun activity yesterday: What's in my Egg? Students had to try to stump the class giving only 3 clues as to what was inside! What a great way to practice writing, asking questions, and following directions! Great job 1st graders!! How fun!!

Honored to participate in today's Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign. Safe and Sound Child Advocacy Center is working hard to eliminate child abuse and neglect in Midland County! Congratulations to Kristie Clark for her recognition as a Champion for Children! So well deserved!

Bullock Creek Band Alumni Rebekah Kindy, Kaylee Monville, Anna Pelli, and Mrs. B all got to perform together at Eastern Michigan University today!

Throughout last week, third grade students from Pine River spent each morning at the Chippewa Nature Center. They learned how people throughout Michigan's history used nature. They explored how indigenous tribes, fur traders, lumberman, and homesteaders used nature. It was a fun week filled with learning in the context of nature.

A huge thank you to Midland County United Way for organizing all these special readers for our students at Pine River Elementary today!

An amazing organization, Just For Kids, came and presented some of our outstanding Little Lancers with a bike today! We want to congratulate these kids for their outstanding citizenship, display of kindness, hard work, and amazing attitude! We appreciate this organization for these donations and the presentation of these prizes to our kiddos! Congratulations to our winners: Ivylynn Owens, Bence Tomas, Ben Vercher, Hayslee Frasle, James Ellsworth, Amelia Dopp, Clara Widenmier, and Dean Keyes.

First time ever! Congratulations to the Bullock Creek Varsity Jazz Band for earning their first Division I at the State Festival at Meridian HS yesterday evening!

It's spirit week at Floyd this week and these are just a few of our "Book Character Day" participants. So many cute and creative characters filled our school!

Floyd 5th graders have been collecting sap. Today they filtered and boiled several gallons of sap and turned it into maple syrup. Tomorrow they will celebrate the fruits of their labor with a pancake breakfast. If you know Mr. Wright, you know no activity is complete without a math question. 😉

Many of our Floyd Elementary families enjoyed an evening together at our "Family Game Night". The activities included board games, a scavenger hunt, STEM/nature activities, nature games, active games in the gym, and lots of laughter and great conversations.

Congratulations to the Bullock Creek Varsity Band members who performed at state Solo and Ensemble Festival this weekend! We had over 50 students performing solos, duets, and large chambers ensembles. The soloists had to perform their piece, scales, and sight read as well. Many students earned medals, and a handful earned medals in multiple events!

This evening our Board of Education honored Andrew Whittington with the Lancer Leader Award for his success in becoming an Eagle Scout! Congratulations Andrew!

These generous students had a working lunch today organizing and preparing the next batch of Creeker Coupons for their Floyd peers. Each day we celebrate safe, respectful, and responsible choices made at school and on the school bus by recognizing Creeker Coupon recipients on the morning announcements.

Floyd students celebrated March is reading month by reading by a school campfire with their class.
