Work based learning highlight - Work base learning (WBL) is a program that connects classroom learning to the workplace through real world and simulated work experiences. This school year students have been able to participate in a variety of different work settings, to even include farming. Dylan Workman reflects on his work experience thus far, “I love my job as a farm hand, some of the things I do while working is running all the big farm equipment. During corn harvest I ran the grain dryer. During beet harvest I ran the beet topper and dump carts. Now that it’s the winter months I go through the equipment fixing, greasing and general maintenance so it’s all ready to go for the next season.” “I am very satisfied with the WBL program and love being a part of it.” ~ Dylan Workman

Matthew works at the Community Center daily often starting very early to fill the role of lifeguard in the aquatics center. Matthew appreciates the placement and remains appreciative of the flexibility and understanding given earlier this year when he had to complete work at the community center in different ways following a disappointing football injury. Thank you Matthew Griese for showing up daily and representing Bullock Creek as a WBL student in our community!

Both Perrin and Liv note that they love the work, and feel very helpful in their current roles. In addition many coworkers raved about both students at a recent visit we had scheduled for check in on how all is going. Way to go guys! Such an asset to the current hospital team. Continued congratulations to Perrin and Liv - what a perfect opportunity for each of you as you continue your dreams of working in future healthcare roles.
