Today's March is Reading Month celebration included a pre-loved book sale, some stylish green eggs and ham, a Dr. Seuss ice sculpture discovery at recess, and our very own Cat in the Hat. Thank you, Ms. Jeannie, for continuing this tradition!

Floyd's 5th graders (Mrs. Schroeder and Mr Wright) went out and tapped 5 Maple Trees yesterday! Mr. Wright lead the group and shared facts about what it takes to make maple syrup.

A big THANK YOU to our caring bus drivers and to Floyd PTO for helping us celebrate them this week. We appreciate all you do to support our kids!

Happy "Twosday" from our 2nd grade classrooms at Floyd! (2-22-22)

Some of our K-2 classes at Floyd enjoyed books by a campfire and s’mores as part of their Valentine’s Day parties. What a great way to celebrate friendships.

Mrs. Clark, our school counselor, focused on empathy when she visited Mr. Gusler's first graders. Students learned about giving others hope and practiced their skills using puppet friends, Puppy and Snail. --Mrs. Moses, Floyd Elementary

As we recognize National School Counseling Week, I am sharing one of my very favorite pictures of Floyd's school counselor, Mrs. Kristie Clark. This is from a visit with my 5th grade class four years ago. The mutual respect and care for each other is something I vividly remember from when I took this picture. How lucky we are to be building such loving relationships! I am also sharing the link from her TV interview for winning an Excellence in Education Award from the Michigan Lottery last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRH2LIk58Sc

Join us at Floyd Elementary on February 3rd from 6PM-7PM for Nature Kindergarten Round-Up.

Kindergarten, Young 5’s and Transitional Kindergarten students across the district have been enjoying the snow while exploring push and pull forces.

Ms. Murdock and her 2nd grade friends took a break from building wolf dens when they found just the right size log for a little fun—and who says bins are just for carrying materials? What a fun way to travel to the den site.

Ms. Pretzer’s class took a hike to look for animal tracks and then enjoyed some free explore time.

Ms. Collison and her class used their creativity last week to make some frozen nature mobiles.

Creekers for a Cause donated over 15 pairs of waterproof gloves and mittens, hats, and knitted gloves to our nature program. Having warm outdoor gear is an important part of ensuring our students have positive learning experiences outdoors. We are grateful for their donation.
