Pine River Elementary fifth grade students completed the Egg Drop project and tested their project. In this project, students design and then create a container which can 'house' an egg and keep the egg whole when dropped from the roof of the building.






Pine River Elementary fifth grade students had perfect weather for their two day trip at Mystic Lake. Thanks to all of the chaperones and fifth grade teachers who made this trip a remarkable experience for the students.






All 3rd and 5th grade students from Pine River Elementary attended Kids' Day at the Great Lakes Loons baseball game on Tuesday, May 21. It was a wonderful day at the ballpark. We would like to thank the Dow Student Heroes Program for providing tickets. The BC/PR PTO provided the food vouchers to the 3rd grade students. Also, Great Lakes Bay Orthodontics provided all of the tickets and food vouchers for the 5th grade students.
Last week the 5th grade visited Chippewa Nature Center to learn more about invasive species and help remove buckthorn from the woods. We are very thankful to be able to work closely with the Chippewa Nature Center. They always offer such a fun, hands-on experience for the students.

Pine River Elementary readers were so excited to see the new Moxy Maxwell books they have been waiting to check out from the library!

Pine River Elementary's Girls on the Run program had a super fun themed practice where the group was able to embrace their inner Taylor Swift. The girls dressed up as their favorite Taylor Swift album and even exchanged friendship bracelets. While they ran, they listened to Taylor Swift music.

Pine River Elementary students and staff enjoyed watching the solar eclipse. Thank you to the BCEL/PR PTO for providing the glasses to all students.

Last week, Pine River Elementary 3rd grade students enjoyed their time during Creek Week at Chippewa Nature Center.

Congratulations to the winners of the Pine River Elementary 4th grade patriotic art contest sponsored by the Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition. Mr. Blanchard presented each winner with a $25 gift card for Pizza Sam’s. They will compete against all local winners for the grand prize of a $50 gift card in May. Thank you to GLBVC and Pizza Sam’s for your support.




Students at Pine River Elementary enjoyed a visit from Santa on the last day before break.
Students in Miss Camp's classroom enjoyed wearing their Grinch clothes and Santa hats.


Mrs. Griggs led fifth grade students from Pine River, and fourth and fifth grade students from Floyd at the Dow Gardens Christmas walk on Thursday night. The students had so much fun spreading Christmas cheer as they sang many different Christmas carols for the community. Thanks to everyone who came out to sing or enjoy the carols!








Third grade students at Pine River Elementary were excited to work with robots during Mrs. Kettler's Computer class.
Pine River students are enhancing their reading fluency with repeated readings and engaging in Reader’s Theaters.
In recognition of National Kindness Week, yesterday was Step Up & Stand Out: Crazy Socks Day at Pine River Elementary. It's a visual reminder for each one of us to be an up-stander by stepping up and saying something when we see or hear someone being unkind.

Dr. Bob Strom visited a fifth grade classroom at Pine River Elementary to discuss elements, energy and matter. Science Bob brought some neat experiments that got the students excited about science. We look forward to future visits!



Fifth Grade students from Pine River Elementary participated in Northwood University's GO MAD day on Friday, November 3. The students rotated through six different activities and had lunch in the cafeteria. Thank you, Northwood University, for inviting us to participate!
