You know its been a good day out at nature when you have a sidewalk full of wet boots and kids covered in mud!!!! We love our nature program so so much!!!

Today we celebrated our beloved Mrs. Fleming! Not only was it administrator assistant day but it kicked off our celebration of her retirement. All day Little Lancers showered her with cards, songs, hugs, and gifts! We even arranged for her to have lunch with her old "Lunch Bunch". We love you, Mrs. Fleming!!! Thank you for all you do for us every single day!

Ms. Traci was rocking out at BCEL this morning reminding our families to get those pledges in for the Color Run!!! What a fun way to start our day!! Our drop off line was thoroughly entertained!!!

Mrs. Hedlund's kindergarten scientists at BCEL held worm races today for scientific purposes :)
What a fun way to explore these wiggly creatures!

Yesterday was the first of our visits with our student-athletes from the high school. Mr. Freeland, our athletic director, arranged for some of our athletes to visit classrooms to read books on sportsmanship or assist in an activity. Our BCEL students loved their time with them. They were total superheroes in the eyes of our Little Lancers!! Thank you, Mr. Freeland and our BCHS athletes for visiting us!! We loved having you here!!

Mr. Beeck was kind enough to volunteer to deliver the Junior Achievement program to all 4 1st grade classrooms at BCEL.
The JA program introduces students to entrepreneurship, families, neighborhoods, money, and needs and wants.

The naturalist visited Mrs. Woods' first grade class today at BCEL. They learned about native birds in Michigan and their amazing beaks. Students had a great time using pretend beaks to pick up seeds, fruit, and insects!!

Our friend, Derek, from Mrs. Williamson's ASD room and Mrs. Reid's kindergarten room helped us with the pledge yesterday! He used his communication device to help communicate the words! We are so proud of you, Derek!! You did an amazing job!!

For Autism Acceptance month BCEL has been using the morning announcements to bring all the things we all have in common to the forefront. Whether you have Autism or not we all want to play, be accepted, be included, make friends, and be able to communicate!
We want our Little Lancers to hear the different ways communication can occur. Last week our friend, Jonathon, used his communication device to help us with the pledge. This morning Ben used words with pictures to read the pledge to get our day started! Both helpers did an amazing job!!!

Mrs. Lombard's 1st graders at BCEL engaged in a fun activity yesterday: What's in my Egg? Students had to try to stump the class giving only 3 clues as to what was inside! What a great way to practice writing, asking questions, and following directions! Great job 1st graders!! How fun!!

An amazing organization, Just For Kids, came and presented some of our outstanding Little Lancers with a bike today! We want to congratulate these kids for their outstanding citizenship, display of kindness, hard work, and amazing attitude!

You guys are rockstars!!

Visitors walked around to read book reviews, character pamphlets, and to listen to a song connected to their character. It was an amazing experience that highlighted the hard work these 2nd graders put into this unit!! Great job young readers!!! I am in awe of the work you put into this event!!!

Mrs. Lombard had a day filled with guest readers! Seeing and hearing other readers is so important to our young learners! This was an amazing opportunity for our BCEL 1st graders in her room to experience new stories, ask questions, and interact with stories.
