In recognition of National Kindness Week, yesterday was Step Up & Stand Out: Crazy Socks Day at Pine River Elementary. It's a visual reminder for each one of us to be an up-stander by stepping up and saying something when we see or hear someone being unkind.

Students in Mrs. Bradley‘s 5th grade class have been exploring Indigenous people groups, the diverse regions they lived in, and the resources available in each region. Students researched the homes built by these groups and constructed replicas of homes to model the resources and materials used. We love your creativity!

Miss Jen and Miss Karen from the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library recently visited the fourth graders at Pine River Elementary. Many of you already know about the free- and low-cost resources that the library has to offer, but did you know that adults can also check out board games, yard games, binge boxes, craft kits, discovery kits, and puzzles? They even have a telescope, hammock, and metal detector available! After that, the librarians showed the children how to search for items on the library's website: https://www.gadml.org/ Check it out!

During the last week of school, the Pine River fifth-grade students prepared to showcase their talents through Reader's Theater. This dynamic activity allows these young learners to enhance their expression, fluency, and articulation skills. As they dive into various narratives and characters, their voices come alive, capturing the essence of each story. With each practice session, their confidence grows, and their abilities to engage and entertain flourish. Reader's Theater provide a platform for students to explore their creativity, foster a love for reading, and develop essential communication skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

A few Pine River Elementary fourth graders decided to do a service project to help pay off the lunch debt at Pine River Elementary. The girls decided to have a lemonade stand on the last day of school. They were able to enlist their siblings to help with advertising! Thanks to Dani Liphard for hosting the lemonade stand and for all who supported the students. A total of $216 was raised for the project.
