Pine River Elementary students were able to enjoy Field Day/Picnic Day. For the most part, the rain held off and a great time was had by all. A huge thanks to the BC/PR PTO for providing picnic food and the bounce house.
It was wonderful to have parents and families in the building participating in the activities.
Congratulations to 5th grade students, Grace Andrews and Lia Wenger. Grace and Lia competed in the Middle School Equestrian meet that took place the weekend of May 7th. Grace and Lia earned a Reserve Champion and Sportsmanship trophy. We are so very proud of these girls and the entire team.


Fifth grade students from Pine River Elementary spent Thursday and Friday at Mystic Lake. Fortunately the weather cooperated and a great time was had by all! Thank you to the teachers and all of the parent chaperones who made this experience happen for the students.




Bullock Creek Elementary's 2nd graders visited Pine River Elementary on Friday. The 3rd graders gave tours, played games and made the second graders feel comfortable in the building. We are looking forward to seeing the students in the fall.

Fifth grade students at Pine River Elementary completed their research projects on how to drop an egg from the roof and keep it intact. Mr. Horn volunteered to drop the contraptions with the eggs to test each student's project.




Through the work that Mrs. Dubuque has done with Salmon in the Classroom, she was able to acquire two Sea Lampreys for observation at Pine River Elementary. Mrs. Dubuque will meet with classrooms and educate the students about these invasive species and the harm they cause to the Michigan Great Lakes ecosystem.



Fourth grade Pine River Elementary students spent the week at Chippewa Nature Center. The theme was Survival. The survival week concluded with a two-mile hike to locate various geocaches and answer some riddles. Students utilized their navigational skills by using the compass and their estimation skills by counting out steps to locate various caches along the trail. Once finished, students had a few minutes to put some finishing touches on the shelters that they'd started on Monday. The staff and students would like to thank the CNC staff for the wonderful opportunities that were provided to the students.




Fifth Graders from Pine River Elementary released 161 salmon into the Chippewa River at Chippewa Nature Center on Tuesday, April 12. This was the culminating activity for Salmon in the Classroom for this school year.

A huge thank you to the BC/PR PTO volunteers who provide popcorn once a month to all of the students and staff at Pine River Elementary. Each time PTO provides popcorn to the students they are also able to purchase Spirit Sticks.

Students in Mrs. Gettel's 3rd grade class at Pine River Elementary created their own Spirit Day: 'Dress Like a Teacher.' The students looked very polished for this day.

The early morning sunshine made for a lovely trip to Lansing for Pine River Elementary’s fourth graders. The students got to tour the Michigan State Capitol and visit the Michigan History Museum.
Ms. Johnson’s Class, Mrs. Miller’s Class, and Mrs. Otey’s Class would like to extend a huge thank you to Senator Jim Stamas and Representative Annette Glenn for taking the time out of your busy schedules to speak with us. Also, thank you to all of our incredible parent chaperones for their help. Finally, thank you to Mr. Paul and Miss Penny, our bus drivers from Mitchell Motorcoach, and to Mr. Jerry, our tour guide at the Capitol.
